Congratulation to the football team on beating Pitt State today at Arrowhead Stadium.
The final score was 41-14, which brings the win loss record for the Fall Classic to 3-2 for Northwest.
Xavier Omon did not play, but both Cook and Gregg had a great game day rushing against the still struggling Pitt State defense.
More on this game later.

Fall Classic V at Arrowhead Stadium
Saturday will be the fifth time in a row that Northwest and Pitt State will meet each other on neutral ground, but how did it all start?
In 2002 Northwest was suppose to play Pitt State during their homecoming game, but construction to Beacat Stadium would allow only a few people to be seated. Northwest went looking for another location and approached the Kansas City Chiefs and asked them if they could rent Arrowhead Stadium. The year after, 2003, Pitt State decided to do the same, and rented Arrowhead. After those two years, the two universities signed a two year contract with the Chiefs. Because of the success of this game, that contract has been renewed for another two years, with Saturday's game being the first game of that renewed contract.
The first year the game was called "Clash of Champions," and was later renamed to the current name, "Fall Classic at Arrowhead". The game has attracted an average of 23,401 fans since the first game in 2002. During that first year the two universities set a Division II single-game attendance record with 26,695 fans attending.
This year's game will be one of those games a Bearcat fan cannot miss. Pitt State is fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive, and Northwest is trying to remain undefeated. Another interesting fact is that Northwest has not trailed in a single game yet this year. Northwest is considered as the home team this year.
Results of past games:
For those who can't make it to the game Saturday there will be a live free video stream through CSTV.

Under Review: Cary Judd, Live!
Hot out of the concert, and I'm just wishing for more. For the second time, Cary Judd makes a stop at Northwest Missouri State University, and I only wish he would've had a better audience.
Cary Judd is one of the best performers I have ever seen in concert. True to his vocals and his style, Judd delivered a performance that is unique and of a caliber rarely found in college, let alone commercial, concerts.
To watch Cary perform is to see a man, not only passionate about his work, but also a master of his art. He usually begins by laying down a beat track from his snare drum. His effects machine records the track and begins to play it back immediately. From there, he begins beating the bass line softly from his guitar. Once it's added to the mix, he sometimes will add a rhythm guitar track, but just as often he'll jump into his song.
His lyrics are evocative. Make no mistake, they are simple, but they carry a weight in the presentation, and his delivery makes everyone know that this is his music, his creation.
An enjoyable concert, and all around amazing performance, Judd is worth having back, and well worth the hour and a half length.

Students can't vote on campus for mid-term voting
Northwest Students will have to go into town to vote for the mid-term voting this year. This is due to the low amount of students that are registered to vote. Whether this is a wise decision is yet to be determent for the actual turn out might even be lower because of this.
Students who want to take the extra step have to go to the First Christian Church to vote for the Mid-term elections on Nov. 7. The polls are open from 6 a.m. till 7 p.m.
Students that are not registered to vote in Maryville can travel home and vote at their county office on Saturday Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. till noon. This only applies to students that are from Missouri.
Student wanting a ride to the polls on Tuesday can either e-mail the Student Affairs office or call them at 562-1242.

X106 filling you up!
X106 is doing a special to get you cheap to the Arrowhead game. They are going to fill up your car with gas if you are one of the first 106 cars to come to hy-vee at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday November 2.
The catch however is that you need a sticker on your car. You can get the sticker by either listening to X106 or by going to "Weekend Sports Kick Off" at Carson's Thursday from 5-7 P.M.

X might be back, coach changed his mind
That's the latest news. According to coach Mel Tjeedsma it's going to be a game day decision whether Omon plays during the Fall Classic V at Arrowhead Saturday or not.
During practise on Monday both Brant Gregg and Sheldon Cook did some plays at the position of running back. Rumour also has it that tight end Mike Peterson could play at the running back position.

X's out for now
18 Yards is what X (Xavier Omon) needs for another 1,000-rushing yards season. One thing is for sure though, he won't get those yards coming Saturday against those damn Monkeys!
Last week X fractured a rib during the game against UCM (University of Complete Morons). X rushed for 166 yards on 23 carries during that game earning him the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week.
X's backup, LaRon Council left the game with a broken leg. His injury was far worst and required surgery. He's out for the season.
Brant Gregg will most likely start in Saturdays game. X is out for at least a few weeks.

Leave the Drinking...To Us
A letter, in response to the Article "Leave the drinking for after parents leave"
Homecoming...*sigh*...a time honored tradition of alcohol and school pride. Don't blame the participants, blame society! Hell, blame the generations of the 60's and 70's who's culture of abuse still plagues us today...oh wait, unless I'm mistaken, that's who we need to protect.
I spent the entire parade stationed on Fourth Street, just down from Bearcat Express. Let me tell you, it was cold and miserable, so I can honestly say, "I've never seen so few drunk people before 10 a.m. on a homecoming weekend." Giant gaps lined Fourth and clumps of people were few and far between.
But back to the serious reality of the situation; shouldn't we, the students, be responsible for protecting the 40-somethings and up? Shouldn't we drink behind closed doors, acting like we have something to hide? Isn't it better if we hide society's flaws rather than flaunting them? I mean, hiding a problem is more than adequate when dealing with it; i.e. anyone find any WMDs lately?
I'd imagine that over the homecoming weekend, they didn't see anything they hadn't seen, possibly even partaken in, once or twice before. I can't imagine that anyone over 30 has ever partaken in the debauchery that occurred during homecoming. That's just unthinkable. Although...unless I'm mistaken, their college years are about the time students would go streaking across campus on Walkout Day. But I'm sure no alcohol was involved in that little stunt, it was just innocent silliness.
But for real-real, I suppose parents could take their children on campus, where alcohol is prohibited, but in my opinion, they decide to stay in the midst of drunkenness out of a sense of nostalgia. A, "Oh, to be young-again" mentality. If they were truly offended by the alcohol, there was about a quarter of a mile stretch up Fourth that was absolutely sober, and a relatively short walk.
As for a kegger, I didn't see the keg, but I wish I had. I was out of hooch by the time the D-Chi Float meandered by.
So I challenge everyone to take part of Living History. Go out and enjoy Northwest. Enjoy drinking with your comrades, and enjoy attending a game w/o alcohol (by the way, how many "events" do you think homecoming entails?). It's about being a twenty something in a time clearly devoid of character and originality. What else do you expect us to do at homecoming, research for an opinion piece?

Cary Judd at Wednesdays Live
Wednesday November 1 guitarist Cary Judd will perform at The Station. The concert will start at 8 p.m. and it's free!
Cary's live show is deceptively understated-just a man and a guitar. But what you see is not what you get. He starts by playing a riff or progression that finds itself embellished in a swirl of drum and guitar loops that he masterfully creates with a series of electronic pedals at his feet. His stage demeanor will make you feel like you're having a conversation and a good laugh with an old familiar friend. Cary impressively redefines the one-man-show.
The Wednesdays Live concert series is sponsored by Northwest's Student Activities Council.
